Activities: Lead and facilitate an activity, such as crafts, crochet, games, cooking class, birthday parties etc, while providing companionship for Hope Haven residents. Volunteers coordinate ideas and activity plan with staff, lead the activity and provide general friendship and interaction with Hope Haven residents.
Apprentice Program Partners: Provide on-the job training experience to a Hope Haven resident(s) and enable them to advance their skills and obtain viable employment.
Childcare / Babysitter: Provide childcare for infant or child on-site in the residential Families Program, while mom/dad attends classes/activities or runs errands. Flexible schedule: 1-4 hour shifts on evenings, holidays and weekends.
Construction Experts: Plumbers, Electricians, IT experts, Painters, Flooring Experts and more! If you have a special technical skill, WE NEED YOU at one or more of our four properties to help with special projects and repairs. Connect with us today and let’s get started!
Community Room Partners: Looking for a team building project? Adopt one of Hope Haven’s community rooms and live out your own HGTV moment. Work together as a team and decide upon a room design for one of Hope Haven’s community rooms, which promote socialization for residents. You and your team will purchase all of the needed items and spend a day or two decorating the room. What better way to build staff morale-invite your friends/colleagues to participate in a beautification project and bring HOPE to life!
Critical Needs Drive: We are ALWAYS in need of the following items: solid deodorant (no sprays), bar soap, tampons/pads, shampoo/conditioner, towels, twin sheet sets and sturdy comforters/blankets, pillows, seasonal clothing, games for all ages. Contact Hope Haven to see what’s needed and run donation drives for items on our wish list to help meet residential needs. This can be done by youth groups, churches, offices or a group of friends. Items include but are not limited to baby items, bus passes, toiletries or games. There are lots to choose from!
Gardeners: Green thumbs needed to help maintain and care for the fruits and vegetables in Hope Haven’s on-site garden and greenhouse. Volunteers are also needed to water the plants and/or garden weekly.
Grounds Beautification: Work on our grounds by clipping hedges, weeding, picking up debris and trash, spreading mulch, sweeping, washing windows or planting flowers. This helps the appearance of grounds and facility!
GED Tutors/Tutors: Work with a resident(s) during tutoring sessions enrolled in classes, college courses or preparing for the G.E.D., or who need improvement in a specific skill, supplementing classroom learning. Applicants must have a Diploma or GED and be able to pass a basic aptitude entrance exam for whatever subject(s) they tutor. Basic knowledge is necessary for the position. Individuals must possess patience and an understanding attitude. Excellent skills are essential for the position. Once a week or as needed with flexible hours.
Friend-raiser: Help Hope Haven continue a 30 year legacy; Bringing Hope to Life! Hold a bake sale, party or event benefiting Hope Haven, Inc or work with Hope Haven staff to develop a fundraising page and invite your colleagues and friends to join the cause.
Holiday Meal Servers/Holiday Angels: Provide Hope Haven residents with holiday-related treats or inexpensive favors for special occasions, such as Easter baskets, Christmas stockings/presents, Valentines cards, etc or simply get a group of friends together and help wrap presents for our residents.
Meal Servers: Roll your sleeves up and coordinate with staff to serve breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Meal Sponsor: Help Hope Haven cut down on food cost-Provide breakfast, lunch or dinner for the residents at Hope Haven. Due to state regulations, Hope Haven is not allowed to serve our residents prepared homemade meals. Therefore we invite you to work closely with the staff to identify a menu, coordinate meal preparation, service, clean-up and purchase and order from Hope Haven’s preferred vendors. Cook-outs are popular in the spring and Hope Haven has an outdoor grill.
Resident Sponsor: Provide financial and emotional support to resident and/or family who is struggling to find employment.
